A downloadable game

Collect Earth’s creatures and send them into battle in this genetically charged dicebuilder. Evolve insects, mammals, plants and more in multiple ways to find surprising synergies. Choose your team and craft your deck to save humanity from an alien virus corrupting all life on Earth.

Use the power of Earth's creatures

Collect creatures like honey badgers, tarantula hawks, mantis shrimps or sequoia trees and use their powers to battle the mutated masses of life forms infected by an alien virus.

Evolve each creature in multiple ways

In Life Altered you can stack multiple evolutions on any creature, increasing their synergetic power. Available evolutions are represented by the classes of your characters, for example "Mammals", "Plants", "Arthropods", "Reptiles" and more.

Choose your team

Rapid gameplay or careful deliberation - the choice is yours

Life Altered is a turn-based game with deep tactical options to consider. As such, players can take as long as they like to decide their actions. You will even be able to unlock Undo/Reset functions after beating the game at its lowest ascension.

Nevertheless, if you've become familiar with the game's creatures and functions, you will be able to play as fast as you want. There will be no cutscenes or forced lengthy animations slowing you down.

Experience a sci-fi story based on an alternate history of Earth

Life Altered is about fast and gripping gameplay. Therefore the story is completely optional and will never intrude on the action and playability of the game. However, interested players will be able to discover an intricate backstory starting with a world changing event 300 years ago - the emergence of gifted humans able to control the powers of other life forms. Discover the origin of their powers and how it connects to the alien menace.

Features

  • Deckbuilding with dice: Experience a new approach to classic deckbuilding and carefully manage the dice that hold your collected creatures. Much care has been taken to mitigate the randomness that come with dice, resulting in a novel gameplay experience.
  • Six classes: Mammals, plants, arthropods, reptiles, aquatic life, microbes - choose your team of three adventurers and discover which combination best suits your playstyle.
  • Intricate evolution system: Sacrifice a creature to evolve another. The type of evolution is determined by the class of the sacrifice. Stack as many as three evolutions on one creature and experiment with different combinations to find the most powerful synergies.
  • Customizable ascension: Beat the game many times making it incrementally more difficult. Choose which parts of the game become more challenging with each successful run.
  • Familiar deckbuilding elements: Enjoy staples of the genre like relics, events and elite fights.

Also, I attempted to open a dice sheet to look at it and got the following:

___________________________________________

############################################################################################

ERROR in action number 1

of  Step Event0 for object button_display_char_sheet:

Unable to find any instance for object index '328' name 'seed_parent'

Damn. Thank you for that one. This would cause a crash every time you open the dice sheet whenever you don't have any active seeds. I fixed it and I'm uploading a new build right now.

Camel can't be impacted by coffee? (Only played once)

Hmmmm, interesting, it seems like Coffee is just sometimes not working, even on dice sides it's worked on previously.

That is interesting. Thank you for this bug report. I'll check that tomorrow.

So upon reviewing I cannot recreate this bug. My only guess is that maybe you mis-interpreted the text of coffee where it says "for this turn" and you expected your next action to be played twice in the next turn (in which case I would need to adjust the text to better communicate this fact). but otherwise, I'm at a loss for now.

Exposed doesn't seem to apply correctly (I applied exposed via cat, then hit for 13 via red ant, still took 13) - possible a weird scorpion + crystal interaction (hit did zero, but status was still applied via cat)

I'll have a look at that. It is likely I am not doing a good enough job communicating the crystal effect. Or maybe the damage popup does not work properly with crystal.

Resetting evolution isn't clearing things in the back end properly, causing the application to slow to a crawl after checking just a few options. (Enjoying the game so far)

Thank you! Yes, I received a similar bug report yesterday. I just pushed out a new build with (among other things) a bugfix for this issue.

Thank you! As I already commented below the video: this has been incredibly helpful (and encouraging).

Thanks for your video - it's how I found it myself :)
